the Sport psychologist

I am a sport psychologist based in Stockport, Greater Manchester. I graduated with a BSc (Hons) Psychology from The Open University and a MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology from Staffordshire University and completed three years supervised practice via BASES to become a Chartered sport and Exercise Scientist (Psychology). I have experience working in all sport to elite levels.

About me

I am Stephen Renwick, a former professional tennis player and now work as a sport psychologist based in Stockport, Greater Manchester. Academically, I hold a MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology and a BSc (Hons) Psychology, combined with my three years professional BASES training and development as an Acceptance and Commitment Therapist (ACT). My expertise is working with athletes includes The Commonwealth Games , Premiership Football and Worlds Strongest Man. All sports are welcome and I offer a free initial consultation to see if sports psychology could help your sports performance.

Acceptance and commitment therapy

If you are experiencing anxiety, depression or other mental health and life challenges, counselling may be an option to help you work through your experience. ACT is focused on helping you to live a rich, fulfilled and valued life while allowing difficult thoughts, feelings and sensations to be experienced. Sometimes, people may feel stuck, have emotional conflicts or lack direction. ACT can help with feeling anxious or depressed, as well as other behavioural issues. Helping you to develop a flexible, growth mindset helps you to feel more fulfilled as a human being. ACT can also support you when accepting things that have happened in life and psychologically free you up to untangle you from difficult thoughts, feelings or sensations.
